The Association of the Czech Aerospace Industry international economic trade and development consultant, Martina Tauberova led a delegation of Czech business groups (aviation category) to the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center on October 30. Chiayi County Magistrate Ong Chang-Liang hosted today's reception and led guests on a tour of the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center, where they witnessed a thrilling UAV takeoff and engaged in B2B discussions regarding potential areas of collaboration between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter, Magistrate Ong Chang-Liang hosted a gift exchange with the guests to demonstrate their friendship and bestow blessings onto one another.

Recently, the Chiayi County Government delegation traveled to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, where they visited the Czech Taiwanese Business Chamber, Automation Center, Czech Technical University in Prague, and Czech Aerospace Research Center. Magistrate Ong Chang-Liang invited members of the Czech Taiwanese Business Chamber to Chiayi County to participate in exchanges with local industries, universities and academic institutions on intelligent machinery and aerospace technology. The Czech group visited the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center on the morning of the 30th. When the Czech Taiwanese Business Chamber arrived in Chiayi County, Magistrate Weng Chang-Liang greeted each individual with a handshake. Later, the local manufacturers GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc., LIFI Technology, and Thunder Tiger Group flew a test mission to showcase the satellite's capabilities in areas such as logistics, agriculture, signal transmission, disaster relief and other functions and uses.

Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-Liang and Martina Tauberova pulled the switch after the test flight, and the drone took off into the sky as onlookers cheered. Martina Tauberova was both pleased and surprised to learn that Chiayi possesses UAV models with a range of sizes and capabilities. Their values are demonstrated in a variety of fields, from agriculture to disaster relief.

According to the Economic Development Department and the Investment Commission (MOEA), as of the year 2020, Taiwanese businessmen had invested approximately US$160 million in the Czech Republic, while the Czech Republic had invested approximately US$1.108 million in Taiwan, illustrating the cordial relationship between the two nations. We intend to use this exchange to advance and expand the interests of both parties, while also demonstrating our commitment to genuine cooperation.

According to Lo Cheng-Fang, chairman of GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc., the arrangement made by the Chiayi County government enabled him to assist Taiwan's drone industry in finding foreign allies through industrial diplomacy. Taiwan and the Czech Republic both have highly developed industrial and technological infrastructures. In the near future, the Czech Republic is prepared to provide Taiwan with its advanced military products, including spacecraft, engines, armored vehicles and communication radars for drones. These crucial components significantly facilitate the development of commercial, military and civilian drones in Taiwan. Additionally, the Czech Republic anticipates that China will have no impact on the stability of its supply chain. Taiwan will replace the red supply chain as the company's trusted primary source.

"This is just the beginning," according to Lo Cheng-Fang, everyone in the industry hopes Taiwanese goods can obtain certification by entering the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union, and the Czech Republic hopes they can obtain certification by entering Asia. Moreover, two nations can complement one another, and personnel exchanges can result in greater commercial expansion. Taiwan will continue to pursue this international opportunity.

Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-Liang stated that Taiwan is threatened by China's power and that the Czech Republic has experienced a similar situation in the past, so they share the common goals of national independence and liberty. Drone technology has significantly advanced in the Czech Republic. Cooperation with Taiwan’s UAV operators will greatly benefit bilateral exchanges in terms of mutual recognition and verification, as well as Taiwan’s entry into the international community. The Czech delegation’s visit to Chiayi is greatly appreciated. Despite Taiwan's lack of natural resources, the country's years of development have produced a wealth of talent in basic industries, information and communications. I am confident that both Taiwan and the Czech Republic's economic growth will benefit from their collaboration.

Martina Tauberova remarked that she felt the warmth and hospitality of the delegation led by County Magistrate Ong Chang-Liang, and was astonished by the UAV demonstration. In the future, she will discuss matters of collaboration in the subsequent stage. The delegation from the Czech Republic visited Taiwan for a variety of reasons. Even though the speaker of the House of Representatives, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, has returned to her country, the delegation remains united, and Taiwan and the Czech Republic are able to work together to solve various issues.

According to the Economic Development Department, Taiwan's industrial technology has a solid foundation in semiconductors, precision manufacturing, new materials and artificial intelligence despite the late start of its drone industry. Combining 5G and AI technologies makes it ideal for the development of unmanned aerial vehicles. Since the establishment of the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center, more than 40 UAV related industry-university-research units have been gathered, and cooperation and stationed units continue to increase, through uninterrupted international exchanges. This time, Czech business groups visited Chiayi in an effort to promote global collaboration and raise Chiayi’s profile abroad.
