Chiayi County was originally a land of Pin-Pu Tribes (aborigines dwell on the plains). During the Zheng Cheng-Gong Period in Ming Dynasty, the area was annexed into the jurisdiction of the Tian-Xing County.
Fourteenth year of Kang Xi Period, Qing Dynasty, the name of the county was changed to Zhu Luo, which was derived from its mountainous geographical feature
